Employer Nomination Scheme (Permanent Visa)
The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) enables Australian employers to recruit permanent, highly-skilled staff from overseas or from people temporarily in Australia, when the employers have been unable to fill a vacancy from within the Australian labor market.
Employers must prove they have a need for a paid employee for the business in Australia. The position must require a highly-skilled person (at least 3 years formal training or equivalent experience) and be for a full time appointment of at least 3 years. Employers also need to show a satisfactory training record, or for a new business, they must make satisfactory plans for future staff training. The employer must also usually demonstrate through Newspaper advertising (exceptions apply) that the position cannot be filled by an Australian.
Visa applicants must show they have the skills relevant to the nominated position. They must usually be aged under 45 years of age (exceptions apply for some senior or specialist appointments), and have vocational English language ability. The visa applicant and all family unit members meet mandatory health and character requirements.
